Photos to Oil Canvas Paintings

Oil painting was considered one of the most expensive hobbies for collections. People have found oil paintings and portraits ranging from 1000$ to over millions of dollars in the past. These oil paintings once considered to be a time consuming profession for the creator and one of the most expensive hobby for the collectors still thrive.

Oil paintings or portraits may take weeks to months to create. They are layered paint on canvas usually and is easily priced from a 1000$ upwards. Today it’s easy to find the replica of oil paintings on prints with frames. But there is no comparison to the original in anyways. The original oil painting is still one of the collector’s best processions.

p>Oil painting can be classified as long and short oil paints. These varieties of paintings can be obtained by using varying amounts of the mediums that are used in oil paintings. The most commonly used mediums in oil painting are linseed oil, sunflower oil and stand oil. The long oil paints are obtained by adding more medium to the oil colors, while in the short oil paints medium is used to a minimum.

 

The oil painting medium developed when during the time of 15th century, Jan van Eyck the well known Belgian painter found that linseed oil and oil from nuts can be mixed with different colors to generate dazzling oil colors. An oil painting support is any kind of surface to which oil paint could be applied to. There are huge varieties of different surfaces, which artists use to paint on. Everything from certain woods, canvas, and as well metals could be used as a supports for oil painting.
